Today is the First Day of the Rest of Your Life
Today is not January 1st. Today is not my birthday. These events in our life are but one way to mark the passing of time. The realization that time is passing often causes us to want to make significant changes in our life. However, if we are not ready or not in the right frame of mind on the first day of the new calendar year or on the anniversary of our birth, this resolution for change has a very small chance of being successful.
If today is the day that you are resolved to start a new practice; if you want to break a habit; if you want to take a risk, then let today be the first day of the new week, new month, new year. Look back in 365 days and celebrate the rebirth that happened today.
This piece is inspired by a colleague, mom and a person in touch with their needs.
