It’s Not All About Planning
In coaching, I often help individuals create career plans. Career plans might include a 1-year plan, a 5- or 3-year plan and a 10-year plan—created in reverse order and nested within one another. Where individuals struggle is in the level of detail required in each of these “plans”.
I hit upon an idea—stop calling them all plans.
Scope out a 10-year target
Draw a 3-5-year picture
Create a 1-year plan
Target, Picture, Plan give different connotations and I think will help out.
