Dealing with a critic

Critical thinking is a much touted skill in higher education.  My experience indicates that idea generation is much more difficult than critiquing someone else’s idea.  If you have a constant critic in your group meetings, have them try leading a discussion.  They will be too busy generating ideas to critique others.   Of course, critics can tend to be pretty defensive about their ideas.  Perhaps that ah-ha moment is a coachable moment.
